Watch Online: Los Angeles Lakers wins Game 1 NBA Finals

The Lakers dominate NBA Finals, Game 1, besting the Magic 100-75 to take the early series lead. They blew it open in the second quarter by thwarting the Magic on 10 of 11 possessions in one stretch, turning a five-point deficit into a seven-point bulge. By the end, Orlando shot just 29.9 percent, the lowest rate for any team in any game during this year's postseason.

It's easy to point to live-by-the-three, die-by-the-three as the reason for the letdown. Bt Orlando finished 8-for-23 from downtown. That's 34.8 percent -- just a shade off its 38.1 clip in the regular season.

It was actually the twos that hurt them. The Magic shot 27.7 percent from inside the arc, as the Lakers were able to unhitch Dwight Howard's anchor in the middle. If you cut the head off the beast the rest of its body will flail.
The Magic scored less than 80 points just once before all season -- an 82-73 loss to the Nuggets back in February. Some of the numbers from that game are eerily similar to Thursday; Orlando was 22-for-29 from the foul line and shot 30.4 percent from the field overall. But the glaring difference between that stinkfest and Game 1 was that Orlando had 23 turnovers, so the point total was self-inflicted.

Orlando took care of the ball on Thursday but couldn't match the Lakers' effort. "We played with a lot of energy," Kobe Bryant said. "Guys are working hard. That's all you can ask for when you played against the Orlando Magic."

Jackson said L.A. was able to stop penetration and limit the drive-and-kick opportunities for Jameer Nelson, Rafer Alston and Hedo Turkoglu.
Their second-leading scorer was even worse. Rashard Lewis shot just 2-for-10. Gasol owned the power forward matchup with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks compared to eight, five, zero and zero for Lewis.

Watch Online: Terminator Salvation

Terminator Salvation is an upcoming science fiction post-apocalyptic war film and fourth in the Terminator franchise. It’s interesting to note that during filming Terminator Salvation, Christian Bale broke his hand and Sam Worthington hurt his back. Special effects technician Mike Menardis almost lost his leg filming an explosion. The sequence required a manhole being blown into the air, which hit Menardis and partially severed his leg. McG noted it was testament to the gritty style of the film. “I say with respect, I didn’t want that Star Wars experience of everything’s a blue screen, tennis balls, and go for it. I had Stan Winston build all the machines. We built all the sets, the explosive power, the explosive power so you feel that wind and that percussion and that heat blowing your eyebrows off. And with that you get a couple bumps and bruises on the way, but you get it in an integrity and a realism that hopefully echoes Apocalypse Now. You couldn’t say, ‘Let’s just shoot Apocalypse Now in Burbank, I think it’s going to feel just as good.’”

It seemed the world had stopped turning, that everyone had either flocked to Italy’s congested capital or were tuning in. The traffic was chaos, the mood good-humoured, the sun losing its venom. Royalty, blue-blooded and footballing, filled the smart seats from Prince William to Michel Platini, their gaze soon mesmerised by the action flowing from the top two teams from the top two leagues.

Deceptively, United had been the first to show, flying from the traps, eager to impose their game. Ronaldo adopted a shoot-on-sight policy, threatening a hat-trick in the first 10 minutes yet, like an experienced heavyweight, Barcelona absorbed the blows and struck back with their first attack.

A game that featured four technical fouls and 84 free throws overall.

The Lakers’ only lead was 1-0 on Bryant’s free throw 14 seconds in as Denver led for the final 46:46.

The Nuggets, who haven’t lost back-to-back home games all season, were coming off their first loss in the Mile High City since March 9. They knew they blew a golden opportunity 48 hours earlier by trying for the dagger and misfiring on 22 of 27 3-pointers.

The Nuggets are the first team with three players grabbing 13-plus boards in a playoff game since Utah in 1994 against Denver, but that game went double-overtime. … Denver is closer than it’s ever been to the finals. In their only other trips to the conference championship, the Nuggets trailed 3-1 to both Seattle in 1978 and the Lakers in 1985.
A dominating effort on the boards and a great performance by the bench helped the Nuggets overcome a below-par effort from an ailing ‘Melo on Monday night, when they raced past the Los Angeles Lakers 120-101, evening the Western Conference finals at two games apiece.

They did it with their star hobbled by a sprained ankle and slowed by a stomach virus that had him hugging the commode before tip-off and getting IVs at halftime.
