Women's World 10-Ball Championship

Some of the world's most beautiful lady athletes will participate in this year's Women's World 10-Ball Championship starting June 2 at the SM City North Edsa in Quezon City.

A total of 48 cue artists from around the world will vie in this event billed as the biggest sporting event for women in the Philippines this year — with the youngest competitor coming from the host country.

The surprise of all surprises in the tournament is an 11-year-old Filipina who clinched one of the qualifying slots to join the world’s best lady billiard players.

Sixth grader Gillian Go from the Jubilee Christian Academy in Quezon City was unheard of in the local pool circuit until she beat a much older Hyun J-won of South Korea, 7-5 in a deciding match of the second qualifying tournament last Sunday at Paeng's Skybowl in Robinson's Galleria, Pasig.

The basketball and badminton enthusiast likes the way world men's champions Efren "Bata" Reyes pushes the ball, Django Bustamante's relaxed manner of play, his flyers and floaters and the tie-breakers of Ga Young-kim.Chicago-based Zara del Rosario, who traces her roots in Catarman, Samar, will also don the RP tricolors, along with fellow Fil-Am model-turned-professional pool player Shanelle Loraine and Jennifer Seaver.
